Naked Backs

Heather Waraksa

В

The plunging v-neckline has met its match in the form of plunging, barely-there backs. From Ines di Santo to Lela Rose, Laure de Sagazan, and Berta, designers were betting on backless to be a hit for the next crop of brides. At times (like at Carolina Herrera and Vera Wang) the trend took on the form of a keyhole feature on the back, and at others (like at Rime Arodaky) as a draping cowl-back for a romantic twist on backless.В (Above: Berta)

Super High Slits

Mike ColГіn

An Angelina Jolie level slit is not new to the bridal world, but this season designers literally took it up a notch. Daring slits were seen at Ines di Santo, Berta, Eisen-Stein, and Inbal Dror just to name a few. But the trend is even more aggressive this season taking on more of a half mini skirt (or barely any skirt) and half floor-length gown. (Above: Berta)

Lingerie Inspired Corsets

It feels like bridal designers everywhere saw Moulin Rouge on Broadway and got inspired. Corsets and underwire cups were de rigueur on the runways this season and the result was a supremely sexy take on lingerie-inspired fashion that calls to even the most timid of brides. (Above: Ines di Santo)

Butterflies

В Heather Waraksa

Maybe it's the ongoing '90s renaissance, maybe it's just bridal designers' love of all things secret gardens, but butterflies were all over this season. We loved the trend as part of a new take on floral prints at Monique Lhuillier, and even more as an embroidered accent on a train at Ines di Santo. (Above: Monique Lhuillier)

Pockets

Don't worry 2020 brides, designers are looking out for you and your last minute lipstick needs. There's something so charming, and useful, about a wedding dress with pockets-and it looks like Inbal Dror, Eisten-Stein and more, agree. (Above: Rebecca Schoneveld)

Off-the-shoulder Puff Sleeves

Ben Simpson

Off-the-shoulder wedding dresses aren't going anywhere, and every season they get a new lease on life by way of a slight trend upgrade. For 2020, designers were betting on big sleeves to update the ubiquitous neckline. Big, '80s-style puff sleeves adorned off-the-shoulder gowns at Rime Arodaky, Justin Alexander Signature, Monique Lhuillier, Allison Webb, just to name a few. (Above: Rime Arodaky)

Bridal Belts

There were also statement-making accessories on the fall 2020 bridal runways. Brides will want to consider cinching their waists next year with a big statement belt. Danielle Frankel, Hayley Paige, Lein, Julie Vino, and Lee Petra Grebenau were among the many designers who gave dresses a belted treatment. (Above: Lein)

Floral Earrings

Heather Waraksa

Florals? For fall! That actually is groundbreaking. The fall 2020 collections definitely had a spring vibe-large floral prints, garden wedding frocks, bold headpieces adorned with flowers, and oversized floral earrings. Marchesa, Laure de Sagazan, Savannah Miller, Jenny Yoo and Watters had models dripping flowers from the ears, and it made a definitive statement: the bigger the flower, the better.

Feathered Skirts

Mike ColГіn

There were no shortage of feathers this season, but designers took the trend a little further south in many occasions. Lela Rose, Berta, Inbal Dror, Sahroo and Naeem Khan adorned skirts with feathers, even going as far as dotting feathers across hemlines.

Blushing Brides

Heather Waraksa

Blush wedding dresses aren't anything new, what was once a trend has become part of the bridal world. This season, however, designers went above and beyond with dramatic takes on blush gowns made to wow even the most skeptic white wedding dress believer. Pink gowns would not be ignored this season-overflowing with layers of ruffled tulle at Monique Lhuillier and Ines di Santo, adorned with feathers as part of a chic pants separates set at Sahroo, even given the Greek goddess treatment at Zac Posen for White One
