Ace Hotel & Swim Club

Talk about a throwback. The Ace Hotel & Swim Club is an homage to Americana. The classic motor lodge turned devastatingly hip retreat captures the true spirit of West Coast road trippin' with revamped mid-century structures and an artsy-meets-desert sensibility. And the repurposed diner (an old Denny's) still serves up comfort food-only, now, it's locally sourced. At times, it almost feels so cool you might find yourself asking “do I belong here?” The answer is yes.

Hotel Californian-or at least, the redux-may have launched in late 2017, however its story begins long before. The seaside property first opened in 1925 and was nearly destroyed by the Santa Barbara earthquake one week later. Bigger and better, the reboot stretches three blocks and incorporates the original Spanish Colonial Revival façade. Interiors take a more of-the-moment approach, weaving modern Moorish and Moroccan influences. Think: Saturated hues, intricate tilework, and gilded sconces.

The Kimpton La Peer Hotel previously topped our list of highly anticipated openings-and it totally lives up to our expectations. Since debuting in January 2018, it has become one of the hottest hangouts in West Hollywood's Design District. In addition to impeccable aesthetics, tailored wellness programs, and an impressive art collection, what really sets this place apart are the innovative extras, ranging from custom picnic baskets to a menu of butler-drawn baths. Hungry? Make a reservation at Viale dei Romani, the modern seafood-focused trattoria.
