Between all the jet-setting to amazing places around the globe, waving at adoring admirers, and living in literal castles, being a royal is hard work. Therefore, it only makes sense that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would need to get away from it all and spend their weekends relaxing in other gorgeous locales outside the Commonwealth like, for example, George and Amal Clooney's Lake Como home. According to Us Weekly, that's exactly what happened this past weekend.
"The Clooneys had personally invited Meghan and Harry to their home at the beginning of the summer with an open invitation," an unnamed source told Us Weekly, explaining that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew to Italy on Thursday, August 16, and stayed with the Clooneys for three nights. "George and Amal were so happy to host Meghan and Harry. Harry and George have a special bond and friendship."

The source added that the weekend getaway marked the first time Meghan and Harry had met the Clooneys' 14-month-old twins, Alexander and Ella. "They spent the entire weekend at their home and enjoyed the privacy and security the Clooneys had for them there," the insider said of Harry and Meghan, who have previously been "spending most of their summer in their Oxfordshire home," according to the source.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been friends with the Clooneys for a while now. Not only did the latter receive invites to the royal wedding in May, but Amal was also reported to have taken Meghan under her wing upon the Suits star-turned-duchess's arrival in London. "Meghan and Amal have known each other for a while and share many interests," a source told People in May. "Amal has been helping Meghan settle into London life," they added. "It was a very natural friendship from day one."
