It should come as no surprise that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle spent a lot to pull off what's been deemed the wedding of the year. But, after much speculation over the exact cost, the mind-boggling number has been revealed. You might want to sit down for this.
According to Express, Harry and Meghan's royal wedding racked up a £32 million bill… which equates to about $42 million. Let that soak in. The bulk of this sum actually went toward security (which will also be the case with Princess Eugenie's upcoming wedding), and the royal newlyweds spared no expense (£30 million, to be exact) for increased safety measures.
Another large chunk of money, ВЈ1,084,512 (about $1.4 million), was allocated to Windsor and the Maidenhead council for "stewarding, crowd control barriers, big screens, waste disposal, barriers and associated costs," according to Express. Believe it or not, a PA system that shared the happenings within St. George's chapel with the public also bit into the budget with a grand total of ВЈ232,810 (about $303,000).
Other fees included ВЈ3,875 ($5,058) for staff travel costs and ВЈ2,907 ($3,795) for accreditation passes. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport division of the government also shelled out ВЈ1.5million (about $2 million) on "flags, banners, big screens, control barriers and rubbish disposal." So. Many. Flags.
And, the cost estimate we've all been waiting for-Meghan's Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy dress, which Express reveals is worth around ВЈ390,000 ($508,000). Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen wedding gown, on the other hand, is believed to have cost ВЈ250,000.

All in all, Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding reportedly came out to be £8million ($10.4 million) more than Prince William and Kate's 2011 nuptials (oh, to be royalty… ). This is truly the stuff of real-life fairy-tale dreams.
